In Rural Illinois

Letter to the editor published in The Southern Illinoisan by Mary Rajcok in response to Congressman Mike Bost voting against the American Rescue Plan Act of 2021

Mike  Bost, seriously?  What is wrong with you? All the years you have been in office I’ve gone back and forth between thinking you are really smart and have ulterior motives for everything you do or you are just not very bright and have no idea what you are doing! At this point,  seeing the cruelty you have exhibited with the things you have done to the people of southern illinois  I guess its safe to assume you have ulterior motives.  But I do not think you are smart. Would a smart person vote against $1400.00 for each human? A pittance to you, but an amount that will keep children from being hungry. An amount that could be life or death to some people.  Where did you come from? Do you not attempt to really see the people that live here? Do you ever venture away from your inner circle of friends that maybe don’t need $1400.? And it wasn’t just $1400 in that recovery bill to help people.  You know that! You know what a wonderful bill it is because it has already started to help people in your district! You do not want people to move up or progress. You have done nothing but vote along party lines. A party that believes the rich should get richer and the poor get poorer. So for that I want to say thank you – for nothing!
